maternity pillow-Leachco Back 'N Belly – Contoured Body Pillow, Ivory Product Description

Product Description:

Pregnant moms who struggle to find a comfortable position will love the Leachco Back ‘N Belly Contoured Body Pillow. Moms-to-be can sleep well and wake up without aches! The big, roughly U-shaped pillow has two contoured “legs” so you can sleep on your back or either side, tuck the end of the pillow between your knees, and elevate your head to ease heartburn.

The Back N Belly provides support for the back and belly at the same time. Simply reverse the ends of the body pillow for a “double decker” head support. It elevates and aligns the hips to help ensure a natural position, which relieves stress on joints. This Leachco body pillow helps relieve carpal tunnel, sciatica, gastric reflux, and nasal congestion.

The Back ‘N Belly is made of cozy, warm polyester and comes with a custom cover case which can be removed for washing. It can be used in positions not shown in the illustrations: Mothers of different sizes, shapes, and sleep preferences can experiment, as many have, to find just the right configuration.

I got this when I was just beginning to show and I loved it so much. I heard all the other pregnant women who couldn’t sleep because they couldn’t get comfortable; obviously they didn’t have this touch of heaven. It is big, but i slept in a different bed while i was pregnant(why torture my husband with my bizarre sleep patterns and continuous trips to the bathroom while i was pregnant?). So if you have a queen you and your hubby will have a tight fit in bed with this pillow, but it would be fine with a king. I cut the end out of pillow case so I could have an extra cover over the pillow for my face area(so I didn’t have to wash off my eye makeup if i wanted to catch a quick nap). The case that comes over the pillow is great, but you don’t want to be taking it off every week to wash, just cut the end out of a pillowcase you don’t like anymore and wash the big case less frequently.

A totally worthwhile investment!

About 12 weeks into my pregnancy, my hips were already aching so badly that I couldn’t sleep. I went online and searched for pregnancy pillows and this was the only one I found that mentioned alleviating hip and shoulder pain.

It works. The first night I used it, I slept all through the night with no pain whatsoever.

I agree with other reviewers – the cover is poorly designed and the seam at the U-curve really cut into my shoulder. But I have since inverted the pillow and sleep with my regular pillow slung across the “legs.” I like this better as it doesn’t prop my head up so high.

The other way I have positioned this pillow is to wrap the “legs” around to create little circular nest to put my belly into so I can nap on my stomach. I can’t say it’s too comfortable for long-term sleeping, but the novelty of resting in something other than a side-lying position is pure bliss! It also makes my back readily available for massages…

I have a queen sized bed and my husband hasn’t complained a bit about being crowded out. He snuggles right up to me in my “nest” and is still hogging most of the bed, as usual.

Overall, I would highly recommend this pillow – particularly to pregnant women suffering from hip and shoulder pain. Don’t worry about the negative comments about the poor design. The cover could definitely be a improved upon, but it’s not a deal-breaker. You just learn to compensate for it with different positions, etc. Hopefully the manufacturer will either fix the seam or offer different pillow covers, but even if they never do, you won’t want to be without this wonderful pillow.

At 6 monthes pregnant I was just starting to have alot of trouble sleeping. I bought this pillow and I love it! I sleep straight through the night now with out tossing and turning trying to get comfortable. I have alot less trouble with back pain throughout the day since using this product. Unlike some of the other pregnancy body pillows I’ve seen, this one supports both the total back and belly at the same time. It feels so cozy. It also helps keep me on my side because with out it I tend to end up on my back every night. My husband says I look so comfortable sleeping with this pillow that he wants to use the pillow to sleep after I have the baby. He’ll have to fight me for it! Sometimes I even use it to sit or lay comfortably on the couch or floor. You can use it in so many ways. Definetely worth the money! At first I was afraid when ordering the pillow that it would take up too much space in our queen size bed and bother my husband but I was so glad to find out it really doesn’t. Great product. I would recommend every pregnant woman who has back pain and trouble sleeping to buy this pillow. I am now 8 1/2 monthes and I am still using it. I have also washed it and it washes well.

I love this pillow! I’m not sure why they chose to use the nursing image for the main picture, because it’s obviously too bulky to be used for nursing, but it’s perfect for sleeping!

I bought mine when I was in my first trimester, because I was having such a hard time sleeping yet was exhausted all the time. Prior to my pregnancy, I slept on a donut-type chiropractic pillow and at first was worried about this one being too flat for my head, but it’s been awesome.

The very best part about it is the symmetrical aspect: you don’t have to drag pillows with you when you turn over, so you’re not waking up completely each time you change position, which means a more restful night (well, except for the potty breaks, of course.)

I know all the books say you’re to sleep on your left side but I toss and turn a lot. Having support on both my front and back has been awesome. Plus, it’s great to prop up the top end against the headboard and read, etc. It’s very comfy!

In latter part of my pregnancy when heartburn became an issue, I slept with a flat pillow underneath the “U” part, to lift my head up slightly. It worked just fine and didn’t hurt my neck at all.

FIT: We have a king-sized bed but I’ve used it on a queen-sized too and there’s still enough room for me, the hubby and our dog in both beds. Cuddle time and sleep time just have to be separate is all but it’s worth it for my comfort and my husband agrees. It would be too tight a fit in a double or full sized bed for two people, though, I fear.

SHAPE: I love the shape, especially as I’ve gotten bigger, the small “wings” on the inside help to support my weighty belly.

LENGTH: I’m short (5’2″) but it would be nice if it were a little tiny bit longer. I have another little rice pillow that I sometimes stick down at the end and prop a foot on, if my ankles are swelling. But it’s not necessary.

MATERIAL: The cover is cotton and not scratchy but I with they’d made the case a tiny bit bigger, as it’s a tight fit and a hassle to change (though not impossible). Not a sticking point though.

I took the advice of a previous reviewer and cut open an old pillow case and looped it to the top portion so I don’t have to change the entire case each time I change the bedding. That works great. Thanks for the idea. :)

Overall, the benefits far outweigh any negative aspects, so I’m giving it five stars. This pillow has been a lifesaver at ALL stages of my pregnancy thus far! And it’s absolutely worth the price, hands-down.

I was put on strict bedrest in the hospital when I was 18 weeks pregnant due to complications. A twin-sized hospital bed is not very comfortable, especially when you’re stuck in bed 24/7. I had to lay on my left side the majority of the time, and I thought this pillow might help keep me positioned that way. So, I ordered this pillow and my husband brought it to the hospital for me, and it was truly a lifesaver! I spent just over 4 months literally living in the middle of this pillow. It helped ease my lower back pain that I got from lying down all the time, and it did a great job keeping my on my left side, even when I was sleeping. The pillow was also just so comfy to snuggle up against, especially since I couldn’t be home to snuggle up next to my husband. We found replacement covers for the pillow at [...] The pillow itself did wear out in some areas, but considering I was laying in/on it all the time, that was to be expected, considering the frequency and length of time I used it. Overall, I think this is a great pillow for any mom-to-be!

At 37 weeks I figure I can give an accurate review of this pillow. My husband purchased it when we were around 4 months. Immediately I began to enjoy my sleeping hours.

The pillow is now even more important to me as my belly needs support as I turn from one side to the other; I lift the side I am moving to up to the belly and finally down to rest. At this stage it’s a little difficult to get the lower end under my top knee for hip support, but that’s no doubt an issue whatever pillow one uses.

I highly recommend this pillow to ANYone who has difficulty sleeping.

Everyone is different in their sleep comfort and no pillow is perfect. It took me some time when I first got the pillow to find my method. (Believe me, I am very picky about sleep positions.)
I lay the pillow with the open end at my head and touch the ends together. Then I lay my regular pillow just over the top. I kind of snuggle in between on my side with my legs on top of the bottom end of the pillow. It tooks a few nights to get used to sleeping with my legs slightly elevated and extra cusion under my neck, but now I love it. It is comparable to sleeping before pregnancy. I wish I would have had it with my first child!!
Getting used to sleeping with a growing middle is a challenge. I really think this pillow provides the best support. Give it a few weeks and some different position tries and find what is best for you!

I am currently 3 months pregnant with my second child. When I was pregnant the first time I would have to fight every night to find a comfortable position and then by the time I got comfortable I had to get up and pee! Well as soon as I found out about this pregnancy I knew that I needed to get a maternity pillow early before I got too uncomfortable and this pillow is awesome. I think even after the pregnancy it will still be kept handy. My husband is a little jealous, and I told him that if he wants one then he needs to get pregnant and I don’t feel sorry for him at all :-)

My daughter is now 6 weeks old, and I bought this pillow early on in my pregnancy. I didn’t like the Snoogle, which seemed like it didn’t support your whole body. This pillow did the trick though, and I could sleep without any backpain or even lay it on the floor to watch TV. My only complaints are that it’s HUGE and will most likely push your partner out of the bed. Also, it’s absolutely useless for breastfeeding. It advertises that you can use it similar to a Boppy, but it’s too difficult to manuever, and by that time your child is screaming for food. If it actually did work as a breastfeeding pillow, it would get 5 stars.
