I’m not quite sure how to explain it, but it smelled like dirty musk. Since the filling was mostly feathers, the pillow was prickly to the touch. You would need a very thick pillow cover just to get around that issue. I purchased the “Medium Firm” variety, but it was neither medium nor firm. The pillow had no volume and it could not serve its function as a pillow. Maybe the “Firm” version would be better in that respect, but I have a feeling that the odor would be much worse for that one.——————–

It is very soft and comes with a zip-up pillow case that can be removed and cleaned. It is also nice in that it is much larger, length wise, than any I have seen before.——————–

After I made my order I took a look at some of the old comments- those from ’2007′ left me concerned. However, my new pillow is WONDERFUL. Exactly as described, if not better. Big, stuffed with down, well made and the pillow case is much better than the ad shows. Great fabric, strong seams, made to last and a nice hidden zipper. It arrived in a large box so it wasn’t flattened and there was no odor- in fact it smells ‘new’ if that’s a smell? LOL Anyway, I was worried after reading the comments and figured I might need to return it…But it’s a great pillow for far less $$ than a department store or somewhere like Bed Bath & Beyond. May get another one as a Christmas gift for one of my kids who’s been trying to take mine! Thank You!——————–

This one is perfect in size and feel. I sleep like a baby, and my back is happy. Judging from previous reviews I’d say, get the firm one like I did for an extra $10. It’s just right. No smell either like some people mentioned.——————–
